Snke and University Hospital Würzburg enter strategic partnership to accelerate clinical digitalization
Snke will scale mobile app HX Now to enable broad adoption and immediate benefits across hospitals
Snke Holding SE (“Snke”), a pioneering healthtech company, joined forces with University Hospital Würzburg (UKW), working together to advance a mobile clinical workplace app originally developed at UKW. Effective immediately, Snke will offer the solution internationally under the product name HX Now, continuously expanding its feature set and aligning it with future technology requirements.
HX Now provides an always-available, mobile view of clinical information from the SAP-based hospital information system i.s.h.med. In addition, the mobile app supports digital documentation directly at the point of care and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration through asynchronous communication tools. Going forward, HX Now will also support international interoperability standards such as HL7 FHIR—ensuring seamless integration with current and future IT environments.
“HX Now enables hospitals to take a major step toward digital transformation—without the burden of large-scale IT programs,” said Stefan Vilsmeier, Founder and CEO of Snke. “With this solution, the modern clinical workplace becomes a reality today: intuitive, secure and proven in daily practice. UKW has built an exemplary system that we are now globally scaling together.”
Prof. Tim J. von Oertzen, MD, Medical Director and CEO of UKW, emphasizes: “This project showcases the strong innovative capabilities of University Hospital Würzburg. I am convinced that the continued development of the app, enabled by this long-term partnership with Snke, will deliver immense support to clinical teams at hospitals in Germany and around the globe.”
The solution was developed by the UKW Service Center for Medical Informatics (SMI) under the leadership of Helmut Greger, in close collaboration with Ulrich Trampe, Deputy Head of SAP Clinical Applications. Together with physicians, nursing staff and administrative users, the team created a powerful hands-on tool used daily by more than 1,000 employees across the Bavarian university hospital. The app has been in clinical use at UKW for twelve years and has been continuously enhanced throughout that time.
“The mobile clinical workplace has become indispensable in our day-to-day operations,” said Greger. “By partnering with Snke, we are creating a foundation to scale this model to other institutions—while also securing our own long-term development.”
HX Now is particularly well suited as a bridge technology during planned HIS/EHR transformation initiatives. Hospitals can immediately introduce modern, mobile
workflows, even while long-term digitalization strategies are being defined, without extensive migration projects or added maintenance burdens. For hospital administration, the app provides a scalable, low-threshold opportunity to optimize clinical processes.
Through this multi-year collaboration, Snke and UKW will align clinical expertise, IT competence and software engineering excellence to advance the digital transformation of healthcare.
